About Abeer

Abeer Shahid is an intern currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. She works with young adults and adults.

Abeer values fostering a supportive and empathic therapeutic relationship within which people feel comfortable exploring concerns and challenges. She believes in empowering people to find fulfillment and agency in their lives. Her approach to therapy is collaborative and flexible, catering to the person and their unique needs, strengths, and cultural and familial backgrounds. 

She draws from Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She enjoys incorporating creativity and humor into her practice.

Abeer is passionate about increasing access to and destigmatizing mental health services, particularly within marginalized communities and the South Asian community. She has experience working with culturally diverse populations and is fluent in Urdu.
