About Janet

Dr. Chandler is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked as a clinician for over 25 years. Her work is grounded in an integrated holistic perspective in which a positive, trusting, authentic therapeutic relationship is the foundation. Dr. Chandler works with individuals, children, couples, families, and groups addressing a number of mental health challenges including, trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She aligns herself with her client’s worldview and path to help them explore their hopes, struggles, joys, sorrows, strengths and dreams.

Dr. Chandler is a national expert and speaker on substance abuse and its impact on men, women and children. She has extensive experience working with addictions, trauma and how it impacts couples. She utilizes Gottman informed couples therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy when working with couples.

Dr. Chandler also is experienced in DBT for mood disorders and EMDR for use in Trauma. Dr. Chandler’s work with indigent families in Chicago can be traced back three decades, as she has dedicated a large portion of her life career to public service for the women, children and families in Illinois.

Dr. Chandler received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She has previously served as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine for 15 years, as well as at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has extensive experience as a psychotherapist, program developer, diagnostician, researcher, clinical supervisor and a presenter; both locally and nationally.
